Big Fan of Noocro Kits, This one is also great.

I am a bug fan of Noocro kits, this is my third.I love the cotton acrylic blend, it feels like such nice quality yarn, the blend gives a cotton look and feel, but the acrylic means it is less hard on my hands as I work with it.I like that these kits have a chart for the project. If you know how to use a chart or want a kit that will help you learn I would suggest this, or any of the Noocro kits. I also love that these kits are for items that are not amigurumi. This kit has nice soft cotton acrylic blend in muted tones of greys, white, and pink as an accent. The yarn feels like it is a weight 3 DK yarn or possibly a light 4 worsted.I like that it also includes a pompom maker so you can fully complete the project pompoms and all.I wish the needle in this kit was metal and not plastic, because I really hate plastic needles, especially the ones with the super wide eye, but that is really my only gripe. There is enough yarn to finish the project with a little extra for mistakes a beginner might make. This kit is great for the beginner to experienced crocheter. It is a granny square pattern that is enjoyable and can be a little mindless and you end up with a useable product in the end.The hook is ergonomic with a metal shaft and hook. It is a 3.5 which is fine, but I may never understand why kits are so dead set on smaller hook projects. The stitch markers are a safety pin style plastic stitch marker, which are reusable in both crocheting and knitting projects.Overall this is a lovely kit, it is 25$ at the time of writing this, which for the quality of tools, materials, and instructions feels worth it to me.

Another Great Beginner's Crochet Kit

I've been surprised by the number of excellent beginner crochet kits that've been emerging lately. Although amigurumi kits are pretty common as a starting point for new crocheters, it's rarer to find a kit with instructions and materials for more practical projects. Granny square kits are even more uncommon, despite this being a fairly common technique for crocheters. The fact that this kit offers both a practical project AND uses granny squares automatically bumps it up a few points in my book. That said, I tend to review these beginner kits on a few different points:1) Is the kit actually suitable for beginners? My main considerations are the quality of the instructions and whether there's enough material to allow for a few mistakes along the way.2) Are the materials of an acceptable quality? I don't expect a kit for beginners to include high-end yarn, but everything should at least be as good as the cheap options available in big box stores.3) Is there any value for experienced crocheters? Although not necessary, it's nice when a beginner's kit offers tools or materials that an experienced crocheter might find useful, even if they don't intend to use them for the intended project. So, how does this kit stack up?First, there's more than enough yarn to complete the scarf hood as designed, likely with a few scraps leftover. Even if you've never touched a crochet hook before and make numerous mistakes, you shouldn't run out of yarn before finishing the project. The instructions are somewhere between a B+ and an A-. The included booklet isn't the most well-written guide I've ever encountered, but it includes plenty of pictures and has enough detail to help a beginner get started. The materials also seem extremely nice. The included cotton-blend yarn is soft and comfortable, and generally seems better than typical value-priced yarn found at big box stores. The tools are also a slight step above those found in most of these kits, which was a nice surprise. Even better, the kit includes a small plastic pom pom maker. All of which leads me to my third question: is there any value here for experienced crocheters? The answer is... maybe. You get a surprisingly large amount of high-quality yarn in multiple colors, a comfortable crochet hook, and a cute little pom pom maker. At this price point, I don't recommend this kit for those materials alone, but it's not a bad value if you think this is a project you want to undertake. As a beginner's kit, this is an easy five-star product. Solid instructions, great materials, useful tools, and a project that's pretty unique compared to most beginner's crochet kits. What's not to love?
